With Fourth of July right around the corner, the time in now to plot your strategy for a jam-packed four days of events, celebrations, music and more during the long weekend of festivities in Park City.

Read on for a day-by-day guide to all the happenings in and around town this holiday weekend!

THURSDAY, JUNE 30

Oakley Rodeo: The 87th annual Oakley Rodeo is a four-day event sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association and features competitions including bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, team roping, women’s barrel racing and bull riding. The event runs through Monday, July 4, with the rodeo starting nightly at 8 p.m. 

Tickets are sold out but for those with a seat, here’s some helpful info for your adventure to the rodeo: The rodeo grounds do NOT allow coolers, stadium chairs, umbrellas or pets of any kind.  Children 2 years of age and older do need a ticket for admission. Food options include a several food truck vendors, available from 5-9 p.m. and located just outside the venue. Two concession stands will be open inside the venue throughout the evening.

Great Lawn at DeJoria Center: Head to High Star Ranch for a free night of music featuring Park City band Swagger, playing celtic americana rock from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

FRIDAY, JULY 1

Canyons Village Forum Festival*: Lucky for us, the Park City Mountain agrees that one day of celebration isn’t enough, which is why the resort is hosting a three-day festival from July 1-3 at Canyons Village featuring live music, food trucks, kids’ activities and live art activations. New for this year, the festival will feature three nights of professional drone light shows, the first ever in Summit County. The festival opens at 4 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday and Sunday. 

*Please note, it was recently announced that due to the drought and other safety concerns, fireworks will not take place in Park City this year.

Deer Valley Music Festival: “Stewart Copeland: Police Deranged for Orchestra” promises a high-energy orchestral celebration of legendary rock star and composer Stewart Copeland and his career as the founder of one rock’s most beloved bands, The Police. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at Deer Valley’s Snowpark Amphitheater.

Egyptian Theatre: “Grease: The Musical!” is live on historic Main Street at the iconic Egyptian Theatre over the weekend (and through July 17), with performances at 8 p.m. on July 1-2 and at 6 p.m. on July 3. Presented by The Ziegfeld Theatre Co., the classic musical is set in the 1950s and recalls the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Elvis Presley and more, with a soundtrack of a generation. 

Lucky Ones Coffee Presents: Chunky Monkey on the Park City Library Patio, free, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Newpark Concert Series: Grimwood, the alternative pop band based in Lehi, Utah, plays free from 6-8 p.m.

Woodenshoe Park in Peoa: Honky Blue Tonky plays this free show from 6-8 p.m., featuring eats from Lush’s BBQ.

Flying Ace All-Stars Freestyle Show: Prepare to be wowed as Olympians and national team skiers and snowboarders perform acrobatic feats as high as 60 feet in the air before landing in the Utah Olympic Park’s Spence Eccles Freestyle Pool. This half-hour choreographed production flies into action at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 1-2 ($20 per person, $70 for four).

SATURDAY, JULY 2:

Deer Valley Music Festival: Utah Symphony presents its Patriotic Pops concert with LaKisha Jones. Known to TV fans as a top-four finalist during the 2007 season of “American Idol” and to Broadway fans for her turn in the Oprah Winfrey-produced, Tony Award-winning musical “The Color Purple,” Jones is known as an expressive, full-bodied and arresting vocalist. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at Deer Valley’s Snowpark Amphitheater.

Canyons Village Forum Festival: The festival continues Saturday with music beginning at noon.

Lucky Ones Coffee Presents: Bruce Music on the Park City Library Patio, free, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Summer Slide: Kids get to slip and slide, make huge bubbles, and get creative on the lawn at Park City Library, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Goldener Summer Market: Inspired by the summertime open-air drinking establishments that sprung up on the outskirts of Paris in the 18th century, the Goldener Summer Market features light bites by Chef Nicolas Lebas, a unique drink menu, outdoor games and live music. Hike any of Deer Valley Resort’s high-altitude trails, then continue the fun at the market, situated in the outdoor patio area of the Goldener Hirsch Restaurant, near the main entrance of Silverlake Express chairlifts. The market runs 1-4 p.m. on Saturdays through Sept. 3 ($35 for adults, $20 for kids).

Stio Stage at Miner’s Park Concert Series: Will Sangster, 1:30-3p.m.; River Arrow, 3:30-5 p.m.

Pond-Side Brew-Grass on the Deck at Deer Valley Grocery Café: Brews and barbecue is on the menu Saturday and Sunday, July 2-3, from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., with a three-piece bluegrass band providing the music backdrop for this serene scene by the Deer Valley ponds.

SUNDAY, JULY 3

Park Silly Sunday Market: Head to old town on Sunday for this eco-friendly open-air market, that’s part street festival, part “commUnity” forum where neighbors and friends come together to celebrate our community, from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. on historic Main Street.

  • Music lineup:
    • Cactus Cola, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
    • Buried Giant, 2:15-4:15

Canyons Village Forum Festival: The festival continues Sunday with music beginning at noon.

MONDAY, JULY 4

Park City Fourth of July Celebration: Enjoy a full day of activities, including pancake breakfast at City Park, the 38th annual 5K Fun Run, the quintessential July 4th parade down historic Main Street, and an afternoon of games, rugby, kids’ activities, volleyball tournament, live music and more! 

  • 7 a.m.: Pancake breakfast at City Park
  • 8 a.m.: 5K Fun Run benefitting Park City Ski & Snowboard
  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Book sale at Park City Library
  • 11 a.m.: July 4 parade down historic Main Street 
  • Noon: Games, music, food and fun at City Park 
  • 1 p.m.: Music and more at Park City Mountain Base area 

Please note, due to drought issues and safety concerns, there will be no fireworks at Park City Mountain this year.

July 4 5K Fun Run: Presented by Park City Ski & Snowboard and longtime partners Cole Sport and Industrial Supply, this year’s 5K Fun Run marks the 38th year that the race has been held in Park City. All proceeds go to support PCSS, as this fundraising race returns to its traditional in-person format. Race starts at 8 a.m.

Mountain Town Music at Park City Mountain:

  • Jake & The Heist, 1-3 p.m.
  • Cam Gallagher and the Tasty Soul, 4-6 p.m.
  • The Fuse, 7-9 p.m.
