Summer heats up in Park City: Mark your calendar!

With Memorial Day weekend already in the books, summer has officially kicked off and Park City’s Summer Special Events season is just around the corner, too!

This week marks the return of perennial favorites including the Park Silly Sunday Market, Car-Free Sundays, Mountain Town Music events and already underway is the weekly Park City Farmers Market, so keep reading to find out how to get in on all the action!

‘Sunday Funday’ is back with Park Silly Sunday Market:

Park Silly Sunday Market and Car-Free Sundays on Historic Main Street return this Sunday, June 6. The free, open-air artisan fair is open weekly from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on lower Main Street through Sept. 26, except on Aug. 1, 8 and 15.

Masks are recommended but not required, and the market will have hand sanitizing stations available and offer free masks at the information booths. Event organizers also encourage Park Silly patrons to leave their dogs at home.

And don’t forget to time your excursion to the beer garden and food trucks to enjoy the weekly lineup of music, organized by Mountain Town Music. Celtic American rock band Swagger kick off at 11 a.m. on the Main Stage, located on Main Street and 9th Street, and Jake & The Heist take the stage at 2 p.m. Visit the web for a complete lineup of Silly Market shows.

Sundays on Main Street also will be car-free throughout the summer from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. to allow merchants more space to display wares and serve customers while also providing more space to practice social distancing. Visit the web for more details on Car-Free Sundays.

 

Park City Farmers Market:

Also back in full swing is the Park City Farmers Market, the essential seasonal outdoor market for local and organic fruit, vegetables, breads, cheese, fish, butchers’ selections and oh so much more. The market, located in the Silver King parking lot at Park City Resort, runs from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. every Wednesday through Oct. 27. The market features Utah vendors selling flowers, crafts, clothing and services. For more details visit the web at parkcityfarmersmarket.com.

Turn up the volume with Mountain Town Music:

Park City’s mountains, green spaces and parks are alive with music all summer long thanks to a full lineup of free concerts at venues throughout Summit County and beyond. Mountain Town Music has shows lined up at popular venues including the picturesque Great Lawn at High Star Ranch, Canyons Village at Park City Mountain, Lucky Ones Coffee/Park City Library Patio, Woodenshoe Park in Peoa and more.

The Grand Valley Bank Community Concert Series at Deer Valley kicks off Wednesday, June 30, with local favorite Lash LaRue, 5:30-8 p.m. Bring your picnic basket and blanket, leave the dogs at home, and join in this favorite weekly ritual! While shows are free, space is limited to so be sure to RSVP to reserve your spot. Visit the web for the full lineup.

Twilight Drive-In at Utah Olympic Park:

Park City Film, Dragonfli Media Technologies and Utah Olympic Park announced a new season of drive-in movies will start this Thursday, June 3, with Tiaka Waititi’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” rated PG-13. Last year was so popular, event organizers estimate they had 10,000 attendees and 3,000 cars over the nine weekends of films.

While Summit County has eased coronavirus protocols, drive-in patrons will be asked to wear masks at the concession stand and restrooms, and moviegoers must remain in or directly adjacent to their cars in their designated open spot. For complete details, visit Park City Film’s Q&A page.

BONUS: In celebration of the completion of the school year, Park City School District teachers can attend “Thor: Ragnarok” screening for free!

  • Thursday, June 3: “Thor: Ragnarok,” rated PG-13, director Taika Waititi.
  • Friday, June 4: “Dazed and Confused,” rated R, director Richard Linklater, screening will also include a pre-recorded cast reunion hosted by Jack Black.
  • Friday, June 11: “Senna,” rated PG-13, director Asif Kapadia; and “Fast & Furious 5,” rated PG-13, director Justin Lin, presented with Park City Classic Car and Coffee Club.
  • Saturday, June 12: “Nomadland,” rated R, director Chloe Zhao.
  • Thursday, June 17: “Spy Kids,” rated PG, director Robert Rodriguez, presented with Summit County Behavioral Health. Admission is free, but registration is required.
  • Saturday, June 19: “A Biker’s Ballad,” not rated, Matchstick Productions world premiere.
  • Thursday, June 24: “La Bamba,” rated PG-13, director Luiz Valdez; TBA, presented by the Latino Arts Festival, Christian Center of Park City, Sundance Institute and Park City Film. Admission is free, but registration is required.
  • Saturday, June 26: “The Big Lebowski,” rated R; directors Joel and Ethan Cohen.
