With the summer sun still high in the sky as August winds down, it’s hard to believe that ski season is right around the corner. But Park City Mountain gave winter enthusiasts something to smile about on Monday when they announced the scheduled opening date for the resort will be Friday, Nov. 18.

Several changes are on tap for this winter, including parking reservations and limits for daily lift ticket sales throughout the 2022-23 season. Ticket availability will be visible on the resort’s website in the coming weeks, and the resort notes that if tickets are sold out online, guests will not be able to purchase them at ticket windows.

However, pass holders — including those with Epic Day Passes and Pass Holder benefit tickets — will not be limited; neither will guests who enroll in ski- and ride-school lessons that include lift access. Employee and dependent pass access will also not be impacted. Furthermore, guests also can expect a more “normal” look to indoor operations this season, as the resorts drops it requirements for face coverings, vaccination, and dining reservations.

Canyons Village debuts dining, après ski enhancements

New this winter, guests at Canyons Village can enjoy lunch, dinner or après on a new, outdoor patio located at Red Tail Grill. Situated near the Orange Bubble Express and Red Pine Gondola, the new snow-melt patio offers seating for 100 people and features a variety of seating options from traditional patio tables to soft seating around flickering fire pits, a large hearth fire and bar-style seating.

Additionally, Canyons Village will debut a new ski beach that stretches from the Red Pine Gondola to the Orange Bubble Express. The new beach area will feature heated pavers, fire pits and soft seating areas, and will facilitate access from the slopes to the Canyons Village forum.

Make your reservations for parking at Park City Mountain Village*

In an effort to decrease congestion in the Park City Mountain Village and enhance the guest experience, the base area will move to a parking reservation system with elements of paid parking, free parking, and carpooling and transit incentives. Paid reservations will be implemented at the Main, First Time and Silver King lots.

  • Reservations will be required seven days a week, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and will be available online. After 1 p.m., all parking will be free, and no reservations will be required.
  • The paid reservations fee is $25 per vehicle per day, beginning Dec. 12 and running through April 2.
  • Early and late season parking (before Dec. 12 and after April 2) reservations will be free, but reservations will still be required.
  • Reservations will be free for cars with four or more occupants. Note: Vehicles with four or more occupants will be directed to a preferred parking area.
  • Free parking will remain available at the Canyons Village base area, Park City High School (on weekends and holidays) and High Valley Transit Park-n-Ride locations.
  • In partnership with Park City Municipal, Park City Mountain will establish a new traffic circulation plan in the Mountain Village base area that will prioritize bus and transit access seven days a week.
  • Park City Mountain will implement text message alerts to provide updates to text subscribers in real time.
  • Additional important info:
    • The resort center’s underground garage will remain paid parking. Park City Mountain will offer 2022-23 season parking passes for the resort center garage to 2021-22 garage season pass holders.
    • Free parking will be available at the Canyons Village Cabriolet Lot through the winter season.
    • The fine for parking in Main, First Time or Silver King between 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. without a reservation will be $75. Repeat offenders will be subject to escalating penalties, including towing at the vehicle owner’s expense.
    • Reservations do NOT guarantee a specific parking spot, and reservations will be verified by your license plate.

*For complete details, visit the resort’s website for more information, or plan to attend an informational session hosted by the resort regarding its new parking system at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Legacy Lodge.
