There’s a reason why they say, “Come for the winter, stay for the summer,” about Park City. Yes, we are a world-renowned ski destination with unparalleled beauty, amenities, and outdoor fun during the winter months, but if you ask us, summer is when Park City truly shines!
Between trading in our ski poles for bike shorts, there are plenty of reasons to love summer in Park City.
This week, we spoke to the team about the Park City events we simply can’t wait for this summer!
Get Patriotic for the Fourth of July
While it might seem impossible to equate the buzz and excitement of Christmas in Park City, the Fourth of July comes pretty close! In fact, it’s Suzanne’s favorite holiday of all in Park City.
“It’s a classic patriotic day. Good old-fashioned Fourth of July fun,” she says. Suzanne says she starts the day by biking to town for the annual pancake breakfast and parade festivities. Some years, she’s even been in the parade driving a vintage car!
“Everything is so beautiful and just so fun,” she says. It wouldn’t be a Park City Fourth of July celebration without some activities outdoors. You can enjoy a rugby tournament, a 5K Fun Run, and more. There are a ton of activities for little kids along with patriotic music, barbecue, and a fireworks or laser show to finish the day!
Park City residents love attending festivals and events, all while making lasting memories and supporting our local community. Here are a few more reasons why we think Park City is a great place to call home:

Help Choose the Cocktail of the Summer
Who doesn’t love a fresh cocktail or mocktail on a hot summer day? There are few things finer, and Park City has the best restaurants and lounges to quench your thirst. Every year Dena loves participating in the Summer Cocktail Contest through the Park City Restaurant Association.
“For the entire month of July, you can visit local establishments and sample their offerings,” she says. “Then you can vote on your favorites and wait to see which spot takes the top prize and wins Cocktail of the Year!”
You’re Invited to the Largest Outdoor Dinner Party
Savor the Summit is a unique Park City event that is one of the highlights of the summer social calendar. Happening each year in mid-June, Park City restaurants shut down Main Street and turn it into a spectacular open-air dining experience.
Steve loves attending each year. “The decor is amazing, it’s such a great, festive time, perfect for seeing friends and taking clients,” he says. Although you must buy tickets in advance, Steve says it’s absolutely worth it. “There must be 1,000 people or more and each year the restaurants try to outdo each other.”

Support Local at the Farmers Market
Steve also recommends the Park City Farmer’s Market for the summer. Taking place every Wednesday at its new location in the Park City Ski Resort parking lot, the Farmer’s Market is a convenient and fun way to elevate your errands.
“It’s a great place to get your local fruits and vegetables and to see the latest goods from our farmers and local artisans,” says Steve. With produce, crafts, food stalls, and more, it’s perfect for everything from stocking up on fresh flowers to getting your knives sharpened. Check it out from 11 am-5 pm every Wednesday.
Check Out a Different Type of Market
In addition to our traditional Park City Farmer’s Market, Justin recommends checking out the Park Silly Sunday Market. He brings his family a few times throughout the year. “It’s a family favorite for us,” he says. “You can stroll up and down Main Street and enjoy the casual environment and local vendors.”
Music All Around
Park City and Deer Valley are well-known for their fantastic arts scene, including a vibrant and exciting music festival lineup. The whole team agrees that the Deer Valley Summer Concert Series is a must-see. With shows every weekend all summer, you can enjoy a variety of live music genres at the Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater.
But that’s not all, there’s even more live music happening in Park City all summer long. Check out Concerts on the Slopes at Canyons Village or the wellness-oriented Park City Song Summit in August.
Enjoy a Summertime Gallery Stroll
Looking for a fun way to spend a Friday night? Judy loves Park City Gallery Strolls. Starting at 6 pm on the last Friday of the month, the Park City Gallery Association holds a much-loved event. Gallery Strolls are a great way to take in new art exhibits, meet up with old friends and enjoy a lovely evening on Main Street.
A Local Tip About the Kimball Arts Festival
Drawing crowds from all over the US, the Kimball Arts Festival is a highly-anticipated event in the Park City social calendar. The festival turns Main Street into an open-air gallery with over 200 artists displaying their work.
Here’s a hot tip: Suzanne says to go on Friday night, it’s free for locals and the vendors are just setting up, you’ll get a great opportunity to check out the art, buy some great pieces, and then finish the night with dinner somewhere on Main Street!

A Different Perspective on the Gondola
Skiers will be familiar with the chairlifts and gondolas in Park City, but summer is a great time to get a different perspective. Starting around June, the lifts open for hiking and biking. Whether you’re looking to hit the trails on two wheels or simply enjoy a different perspective on the mountain this season, Judy says riding the lifts and enjoying the outdoors is why we live here in the summer!
The Best Activity for First-Time Visitors
Is it your first time visiting Park City? Have you just relocated here and want to find something fun and exciting for the kids? Steve loves visiting the Park City Museum. “There’s so much history here, and kids love it!” Over the summer, the museum hosts numerous events that you won’t want to miss.
The Perfect End to the Summer: Miners Day
In September, Park City celebrates our mining heritage with Miners Day. It’s one of Cameron’s favorite summer events. “It’s like the Fourth of July, but at the end of summer! Things are scaled back and hyper-local,” he says. Miners Day features traditions like the annual parade, the running of the balls, a 5K fun run, and more!
