Mayflower Mountain Resort: All about Utah’s newest mountain resort destination

February 13th, 2023 | Resorts

Mayflower Mountain Resort, created by Extell Utah and set to begin operations in late 2024, will be the first new world-class alpine resort and village to be developed in North American since 1981. Boasting a size nearly half the size of Manhattan, Mayflower will offer 4,300 acres of skiable terrain featuring 3,400 feet of vertical.

The resort village at Mayflower Mountain will include a high-tech ski infrastructure with several new ski lifts that will allow skiers and mountain bikers access to extensive terrain, both summer and winter, while overlooking the Jordanelle Reservoir. This reimagined resort village concept will feature multiple luxury and lifestyle-branded hotels and more than 1,000 private residences ranging from estate lots to luxury condominiums.

Where is Mayflower Mountain Resort?

Located on the western side of the Jordanelle Reservoir, Mayflower Mountain Resort is a 40-minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport and 20 minutes from Heber Valley Airport. Once at Mayflower, residents and guests are centrally located — just 10 minutes to Park City’s historic Main Street and about 10 minutes to the picturesque Heber Valley, charming town of Midway, and the Wasatch State Park.

What are the plans for a base area village at Mayflower Mountain Resort?

The ultimate vision for Mayflower Mountain is a combined resort with the addition of new terrain and state-of-the-art skiing infrastructure. Plans for a pedestrian-based village are designed to give visitors and residents everything they need withing walking distance. Village facilities will be multi-level, with one plaza centered around shops and another on the same level as the chairlifts. Every detail down to the stitching on the chairlift seats has been carefully considered.

In the day skier park lot, 550 parking spots will be paved and lined. From there, it will take guests less than 12 minutes to get from the village base to the top of Bald Mountain via chairlift, providing unparalleled access to the heart of Deer Valley.

Skiing and recreation at Mayflower Mountain Resort

Mayflower Mountain Resort will include 4,300 acres of skiable terrain featuring 3,400 feet of vertical, a two-stage gondola and at least 12 lifts. The resort — and all of its runs — is designed by SE Group, the same company that created Deer Valley Resort’s Master Plan in 1979. Runs at Mayflower are being cut with a slight north-facing slope to provide additional shade and help maintain snow conditions. Additionally, snow making capabilities will be installed across the entire resort.

While operating responsibilities have yet to be formalized, the resort is currently in talks with Deer Valley to manage Mayflower, which would make the combined resort one of the largest in North America with more than 6,300 acres of skiable terrain. Mayflower Mountain Resort plans to open with its first three lifts in December 2024.

This map’s intent is to illustrate the proximity of Deer Valley and Mayflower Mountain Resort.
